I'm excited to have joined Magnum photographer Christopher Anderson for a unique and intensive photography training experience in the Chinese city of Shenzhen.
The images below were produced from October 9th to 13th, during a class led by which included daily programs of shooting, reviews, group critiques, mentoring, and editing sessions, The class provided the opportunity to learn and improve my photographic skills amongst peers.

A musician fights to preserve the legacy of his friend and former band leader Tabu Ley.
Tabu Ley has been described as the Congolese personality who, along with [the dictator] Mobutu, [most] marked Africa's 20th century history. Tabu Ley was dubbed "the African Elvis" by the Los Angeles Times and was also nicknamed the Voice of Lightness.

"We scoped an unused piece of city property," said Demmon, gripping a Pilsner Urquell as he recounted how the effort began. "It was a homeless camp, a garbage dump, an area where prostitutes and drug dealers congregated—it was a piece of shit. We took it, cleaned it up, talked to the area businesses and got them to sign off on our [then] illegal project."
